Today our managing partner, Steven Newdall, took part in Jail and Bail 2017 for St Gemma’s Hospice.
Volunteers from West Yorkshire Police came to our offices and ‘arrested’ Steven for his terrible crimes against hoarding in his office. His secretary recently tidied his office and found (amongst many other bits and pieces) copies of 20-year-old magazines, his notes from his law degree, a small handheld television and books from the 80’s!
The police officers took Steven to be tried for his crimes in the court room at Leeds Town Hall. He was presented with evidence collated by his colleagues, and eventually found guilty. He then spent time learning his lesson while locked up in the Victorian cells below the Town Hall.
St Gemma’s Hospice kindly agreed that Steven was eventually allowed to escape from the calls as he had raised enough for his ‘bail money’ for the charity!
Levi Solicitors LLP, their staff and clients have been fundraising to help Steven reach his £500 target since early September. Steven said, “St Gemma’s Hospice does great work for the people of Leeds and we at Levi Solicitors are proud to support them throughout the year. Taking part in Jail and Bail is a fun way for us to raise money and awareness for the Hospice. While I am sure some of my colleagues would rather have paid for me to stay in the cells, we have already raised a very generous sum.”
