Our Dispute Resolution team has recently been shortlisted for the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Award at the Yorkshire Legal Awards, alongside some of the largest and most established litigation practices in the region.
Despite being a comparatively small department, the team acts for individuals, businesses and landlords across a wide range of disputes, achieving excellent outcomes while maintaining the friendly, practical approach for which Levi is known.
From commercial property and contractual disputes to residential property matters, possession proceedings and ownership disagreements, the team helps clients navigate situations that can often be stressful, complex and highly personal.
The department has also developed a particular reputation for professional negligence claims, securing settlements for clients against solicitors, accountants, surveyors and other professionals who have fallen below expected standards. That expertise is reflected in client feedback, with Levi currently ranked first in the country for Professional Negligence on ReviewSolicitors.
Let’s meet the team behind the shortlist.
| Ed Smith
Ed joined Levi Solicitors as a trainee solicitor and now, many years later, leads the firm’s Dispute Resolution team. His journey from trainee to partner reflects both his expertise and his contribution to the department’s growth over the years.
Ed has built a strong reputation for resolving professional negligence and property disputes and is a member of both the Property Litigation Association and the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association.
While Ed primarily acts for claimants in professional negligence claims, one of his career highlights was involvement in Stoffel & Co v Grondona, which reached the Supreme Court.
His commercial property work spans businesses of all sizes, from individual landlords to PLCs, with extensive experience in dilapidations claims, forfeiture and relief from forfeiture, as well as contested lease renewals.
| Ifra Chaudhury
Ifra joined Levi in 2026 and has quickly become a valued member of the Dispute Resolution team. She works across a broad range of matters and enjoys the variety that comes with supporting different clients and tackling different challenges.
Speaking about her role, Ifra said:
“I like helping clients understand what is happening, what their options are and what the next steps look like. Being able to bring some clarity to a stressful situation is very rewarding.”
| Zoreen Aziz
Since qualifying as a solicitor three years ago, Zoreen has become a key member of the team and our go-to expert in residential property disputes.
Her work includes boundary disputes, adverse possession claims and possession proceedings, as well as more complex matters involving fraud, misrepresentation and capacity issues.
What Zoreen particularly enjoys about dispute resolution is that no two matters are ever quite the same. Every case brings its own challenges, requiring a practical and tailored approach for each client.
| Chloe Pettitt-Belk
Chloe is currently working with the team as part of her training contract, bringing valuable experience from Levi’s Residential Property department.
Her conveyancing background gives her a strong understanding of many of the issues that can arise in residential property disputes and professional negligence matters involving property transactions.
Chloe supports the team across a wide range of disputes and has recently been involved in a contested probate matter that she found particularly interesting.
| Amanda Hall
No litigation team would function without strong support behind the scenes, and Amanda provides exactly that.
As a highly experienced legal secretary and litigation assistant, Amanda has been part of the team for eight years and is often one of the first people clients speak to when they get in touch.
Amanda says the best part of working in the department is the team spirit:
“We work well together as a team, we stick together and we can stop to have a bit of a laugh from time to time.”
