The Government’s response to the consultation on enhanced fees for divorce proceedings, possession claims, and general applications in civil proceedings within the small claims court has been released. IN and amongst other likely fee hikes, it very much looks like the fees for issuing possession claims in the county court will be rising by £75, from £280 to £355!
This, alongside the recent wider increase of court issue fees for civil money claims is of some concern to those who are in the position of bringing civil claims. Various funding options are becoming available to claimants of all sizes which in certain circumstances can ease the burden, but the continuing rises in court fees appears to be an indication of the efforts of the powers that be to keep more and more disputes away from the court.
